The Fisher Center offers programs, with a range of time and commitment levels, to help you make the connection to students with interests and skills to match your needs.

MENTORING: Fisher IT Center Leadership Program

This program assists Senior IT executives interested in mentoring graduate students.  Participating executives are willing to talk with a student at a mutually agreeable time for an initial hour, and then to be available afterwards for email or telephone consultations, as the student requests and the executive agrees.

To mentor students, please see http://fisheritcenter.haas.berkeley.edu or send an e-mail to grantham@haas.berkeley.edu with the following information by January 31, 2008:

SITE VISITS: Fisher IT Center CIO Externship Program

This program assists Senior IT executives interested in hosting one or two day visits to their firm for one or more graduate students. These visits are typically held during the school winter break period (December 26—January 18), though they can be scheduled at other times. Students become familiar with the role and responsibilities of the Chief Information Officer and the Information Technology group, meet some of the staff members, and gain a better understanding of the information technology function within the firm. Companies may use this as a chance to personally meet and recruit highly qualified employees for summer or permanent jobs.

To host students, please send an e-mail to grantham@haas.berkeley.edu with the following information by November 30, 2007 for winter break externships, or February 28, 2008, for spring externships:

· Company Name

This program provides U.C. Berkeley graduate students opportunities for employment within the 2008 summer period (May 27-August 22). These students might work independently under company direction or as a member of a team including company staff members. Pay rates are fixed by the companies based on guidelines provided by UC Berkeley. For example, pay for MBA students may average about $6,500 per month for the period (at 40 hours per week), or about $36-$40 per hour, however non-profits might pay less. Companies may use this as a chance to personally meet and recruit highly qualified employees for permanent positions.
